Santa Monica Rugby Sevens Gets Underway

Sevens season is fast approaching and the 7’s program will be led this season by former Australian 7’s player Marc Schterbina. Schterbina brings as wealth of experience to the program and is very excited to help in rekindling the 7’s program to SMRC’s former glory. Santa Monica will be hosting one of three rounds of SCRFU qualification tournaments on June 30 at Webster Middle School. The league has changed the qualification process and will award points weekly to teams based on their finishing position. The top three teams, based on points, then qualify for the National Championships in San Francisco later in the summer. We are looking forward to even more UCLA athletes joining the club for the summer, as well as several ICEF alums who now ply their rugby trade in colleges and universities across the country.
